Bloom Of The Week Wednesday: March 13, 2013

52 Tuesdays Challenge #8: Tool!

I’ve been quite busy lately working outside on our garden and inside on my work for which I get a paycheck. So this week I chose the word Tool because no matter what you are working on you need tools. Of course, I like to share the definitions of the words just for fun so here is how Merriam Webster defines tool:

a handheld device that aids in accomplishing a task

So here are a few of the tools I use often during the course of the day or the week and in the spring!

One of my favorite tools - my camera!

White: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge of Pick One Color

I truly adore all colors. I have my favorite, red. But the colors of the rainbow inspire me. All the shades, mutations, and the brightness cheer me.

But for this challenge I wanted to share my love of the color white. White is such a pure, clean color. When seen against a sharp contrast of black or another primary color it can be breathtaking. Here are a few!

International Women’s Day: Where’s My Backpack Challenge

Where’s My Backpack has a great challenge: International Women’s Day. There are a lot of inspiring women in my world. And I am proud to be a successful woman. Mind you that success can be defined in many ways and always very personally. So here are a few photos that are my tribute to women.

For the sweetness and the softness of women. We are strong enough to cry, too.

Bloom Of The Week Wednesday: March 6, 2013

In anticipation of the tulips blooming this year, I am sharing a couple of my photos of tulips from last year. These were some beautiful orange/red/yellow tulips that I purchased. I’ve been known to purchase them after Easter to plant in the ground – real deals! Enjoy!

Rainbow: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge

Cee really stumped me with the challenge Rainbow! It is to showcase at least 4 vibrant colors. Looking thru my photos I found one that had 4 vibrant colors. I’m a big fan of the primary colors yet most of my photos only had up to 3 vibrant colors. I found this one for you. It is an iris with some visitors. I like the purple, the contrast of the red bugs and then the green and yellow thrown in for some variety! Enjoy!

Bloom of the Week Wednesday: February 27, 2013

Spring is almost here so it is time to start Bloom of the Week again!! I’m very excited to share with you the first blooms of the season here in north Texas – the daffodils! They are usually the first to bloom each Spring and it is the sign that I always look forward to each year. Enjoy!

In Love With A Ladybug & A Daisy

Sighhhhh… in looking thru photos in my library today I found this overlooked photo of a ladybug and a daisy. I fell in love immediately. Such a great photo with my readiness for Spring to arrive this year!

Red, White or Red & White: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge

I’m loving Cee’s challenge this week of Red, White, or Red & White. My favorite color is red so this is just my thing!

I’m sharing flowers with you today. Two of my favorites – gardenias and roses.

The first is a gardenia from the bush outside my office window after a rain shower.

The second photo is of a rose called “Silver Lining”. It has a beautiful white silver underside to the petals.

Daffodils: Spring 2013!

It is so exciting to see the daffodils blooming! That is when I know that Spring is here – despite whatever cold snap comes along. So I wanted to share some of the early daffodil photos with you. I took them this morning after that little cold front brought more rain. I love the raindrops on them. The “Reflecting Daffodil” intrigued me in that you can see the reflection of the ground – not yet green. Then the naughty “Flashing Daffodil” offers a little peek into her bloom. And the sweet “Angel Daffodil” shows off her wings. Enjoy!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Home

Home is where your heart is.

Home has several different meanings for me. It is the physical place that I share with my husband and all our four-legged children as well as our two-legged children. My heart is always with my husband so in that sense the arms of my husband are my home.

But to share in the challenge this week of home I thought I would share some of my favorite photos of home.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Delicate

There is a bush that blooms in our backyard each spring that has the most delicate flowers that I have ever seen. I have no idea what the name of the flower or the bush might be. But here are a few photos to share the delicate beauties with you! Enjoy!

Colorful Monotone

Participating in Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week of colorful monotones got me back in the groove. Here are a few that I really like.

Toning – a creation in color

I’m trying to learn new techniques while I participate in photo challenges. This week I have worked on toning on a black and white photo. I had a lot of grand ideas and some were ok but I wanted stellar. So here are a few of my attempts.
