52 Tuesdays #1: Treasure
And so we begin with the first in the series of the 52 Tuesdays! This Tuesday the challenge word is TREASURE.
So what is the official definition of treasure? According to Merriam Webster:
1: wealth (as money, jewels, or precious metals) stored up or hoarded; wealth of any kind or in any form : riches
2: something of great worth or value; also : a person esteemed as rare or precious
3: a collection of precious things
I consider each of my photos a treasure – of having great worth. They each represent an experience, a special find along the road of my life. Though I have no favorite photo – because I love them all – I couldn’t pick just one to show you.
My biggest, most precious treasure is my husband. You may have seen his photo around here a bit. He is often my not-so-willing subject! Yet he is my biggest supporter in my photography.
Then I had to think of the last of the definition – a collection of precious things. You may not know but I collect rabbits – not the live ones but inanimate rabbits. I am privileged to have a curio case that belonged to my late mother-in-law to showcase them in.
What are your treasures? Tell us about them and be sure to link back to this post!
Outdoors and Nature of 2012: Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge
Cee challenged us to show the best of our outdoor and nature photos for 2012 in her weekly Fun Foto Challenge. Now that is a hard one for me. I truly enjoy nature and the outdoors and have a lot of photos so choosing 3 is definitely a challenge. I had to think about what I wanted to share – my best photos or photos of those with my fondest memories or the most popular ones from this blog in 2012….
So ….. (drum roll) I am going with the fondest memories. Hopefully, you will enjoy them!
Not so sleepless in Seattle – day 2
We left off on the first part of the Seattle adventure at Pike Place Brewery. The next morning we had decided to leave the sights and sounds of the city for the beauty of the nature outside of the city. We headed out toward Mt. Rainier and found Northwest Trek along the way. It is a wilderness park with a tram that drives you through open land where the animals roam. Gorgeous scenery and quite a wonderful story on the park so go take a peek at their website.
There we saw many animals such as the grey wolf, brown bear and elk.
On the tram we got to see some of the newborns around the park, too.
Next we got back out on the road toward Mt. Rainier. And there we were amazed at the beauty!! It was so full of the color of nature – greens, browns, white – just an amazing sight.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Close
I found it hard to choose a photo or photos for this one. I do a lot of close ups of flowers but that seemed too simple… So I went with a twist – those things in nature that you get as close to as you can but can’t get reallllyyy close to for varied reasons.
