Yosemite National Park boasts that it receives 4 million visitors each year. Many of those visitors tell stories about trying for years before scoring a campsite within the park.
As the stories go, reservations for campsites open at 7 a.m. on the 15th of the month for camping five months into the future. Two couples from Washington State told me last week that the four of them sat for the past two years with fingers poised, waiting for the magic hour. They had hoped to get a site in the valley but despite putting in their information at exactly 7 a.m., they felt fortunate to get a one 24 miles from the heart of the park.
